A few words
from Andy

This issue is heavier than usual, and that's deliberate — we wanted to put the season drop, the balance pass, and a couple of community asks in front of you before launch night. Scroll the contents below, jump to what's relevant, skip the rest. Reply to anything.

Events May 2026

A new map, a new operator, and the cleanest patch we've shipped all year. Your loadouts and progression carry over — bring them.

Blacksite drops worldwide at 10:00 Pacific on launch day, opening with the new Refinery rework, operator Vega, and the Hardcore Tactical playlist you've been asking for since launch. Two weeks of double XP, a free entry tier on the Frostline Pass, and a community contract that unlocks a permanent emblem at one billion combined eliminations.

Your loadouts, attachments, and prestige all carry over. There's no reset. If something feels off in the first 72 hours, hit the in-game feedback button — every report routes to a real human on the live-ops desk for the duration of launch week.

A new objective playlist, a tight new map, a returning fan-favourite, and a Season IV ranked reset. All free, all live on the 18th.

New mode · 4v4 · Objective

Lockdown — hold the breach, hold the round.

A rolling four-point objective mode where the attacking side has to plant — and defend. Slower TTK, longer rounds, and the breach you couldn't quite hold.

Lockdown ships with Blacksite at 10:00 Pacific on the 18th. Four-versus-four, four rolling objectives per match, and an attacking side that has to plant and hold a node for a hundred seconds before the next one opens. There are no respawns once the plant lands. It is, on paper, the slowest mode we've ever shipped.

It plays faster than that. Built around the new Iron Vault map, the round geometry forces engagements without the long sightlines you've come to expect — Refinery this is not. Expect roles to matter again. Expect the entry-fragger to die more, and the medic to live longer.

Slower TTK, longer rounds, and the breach you couldn't quite hold.

Lockdown joins the core playlist on launch day and the ranked rotation in the week after. We'll be watching the round-length data closely — if matches start running long, expect the plant window to drop to ninety seconds in the first hot-patch.

The weekly objective system has also been redesigned around the new mode: six contracts a week instead of twelve, no more "kill 50 with a melee" rolls, and a re-roll allowance for the three rolling slots.

Patch notes & balance

Patch v1.7.2

A quieter HUD, a tighter PX-9, and the tick-rate bump you've been asking for since launch. The headlines below — full notes on the wiki.

Patch v1.7.2 · Effective Nov 18

The biggest balance pass since launch.

Three months of player feedback and internal stress tests, condensed into a single Tuesday morning. Three weapons touched, one playlist-wide netcode bump, and 51 bug fixes.

Every patch since launch has been a triage exercise. v1.7.2 is the first one that gets to be opinionated. The PX-9 Reload — the workhorse SMG of the last three months of competitive — gets a 6% body-damage nerf. It is still a one-burst at close range. Sights, hipfire, and reload speed are unchanged. We expect the meta to shift, not collapse.

On the other side of the kit, the Iron-12 shotgun gets a tightened pellet spread. No damage change — just a meaningful reach buff for the slowest gun in the roster. You'll notice it most on Refinery's mid-room corners.

A HUD that finally shuts up — smaller hit markers, a kill feed you can read at 1440p.

Server tick rate moves from 30 to 64 Hz across all competitive playlists, all regions. You will notice it most on peeker's advantage and on grenade physics. The change has been in EU's PTR for six weeks; we're comfortable shipping it everywhere now.

The HUD overhaul lands quietly alongside the weapons pass: less reticle bloom, smaller hit markers, a kill feed that's actually readable at 1440p, and a notification stack that no longer fights you during the last fifteen seconds of a round.

A poll, a roadmap vote, and a permanent creator-cup slot. Reply to anything, it all reaches a human.

The community contract unlocks a permanent emblem at one billion combined eliminations.

Three weeks ago we asked you what should win the Season V Spotlight slot. The shortlist made it to four entries, and the count's closer than we expected — within five percentage points across all four. Voting closes Nov 17 at 23:59 UTC; results land in the next Brief.

The Creator Cup gets a permanent home in the ranked rotation starting Season V: a sixteen-team, single-elim format with a live VOD review desk. Submissions for the inaugural cup open December 1.
